Characteristics
Overview
Metal insert for crafted clothing and armor, provides extra protection from projectiles.
Most deaths on a roam come from something fired at you: bullets, arrows, nails from a nailgun at a doorway. This insert goes into crafted clothes and armour and, by its own description, adds extra protection from projectiles. When your group heads out to contest a monument and expects another team on the road, that is the trip it is made for.
Pros
Cons
- Covers what other players actually shoot at you
- No blueprint needed: any one you find goes straight into your armour
- A spare one recycles into high quality metal
- Cannot be crafted or researched, so every one comes from loot or a trade
- Lose it on a roam and you wait for the next lucky find
- Nothing in its text about radiation or heat
Newcomers mix the inserts up all the time. The lead insert is crafted at a Level 2 workbench but guards against radiation, and the asbestos one is for fire. With no metal insert at hand, the craftable wooden insert gives some bullet and melee protection for wood alone.
Recycling
At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
