Overview

In-game description
A clipping of an orchid plant.

Clone an orchid for looks and nothing else. The plant gives you nothing to eat or craft with, so the one reason to copy it is that you like flowers in the base and do not want to hunt for wild ones every time a bed dies.

That also changes which plant you copy. On a food crop people chase growth and yield. A flower bed nobody harvests wants the other kind of parent: one that stays alive on little water and little care, with hardiness in its genes and as few water-hungry letters as possible. A slow orchid that never wilts beats a fast one that dies the week you forget the watering.

Say your group runs a shop by the road and wants the front to look lived in. A bath tub planter by the counter and a minecart planter at the gate suit a few flowers better than a wooden farm box. Fill both with clones of one tough orchid and they all get by on the same little care.

The first parent comes from an orchid seed. After that, clones keep the flower bed going until the wipe.
