Overview
A Clipping of a Corn Plant.
Take clones once you own a corn plant worth keeping. A cutting from it while it grows carries its genes, so what comes up is that same plant again, not a fresh roll of the dice like a seed.
For corn the genes to chase are growth and yield. You eat the stuff by the stack and fill a trough with it, so a plant that ripens quickly and drops more ears is the one to copy into every bed you have.
Clones earn the most when you move. Say your group has outgrown the starter base and is rebuilding in a bigger spot across the river. The old planters stay behind, but a handful of clones from the best corn rides along in your inventory. Push them into a small planter box at the new place and the farm carries on where it left off, with no second round of random corn seeds to sort through.
Some players eat a chicken pie before they cut, since its text promises better genes from crops for a short while. Whatever you do, the harvest at the end is plain corn, the same food as from a wild plant.
