Bone Fragments

Free from every carcass and spent in the first hours: a bone knife, some bone arrows, maybe bone armor. Past that, most of the pile just sits in a box.

Overview

In-game description
Extracted from animal carcass. Used as a raw material to make bone weapons and armour.

Spend the first thirty on a bone knife. Every animal you open after that pays out more meat, fat and leather, and it keeps feeding you bones while it does. Nothing else on the bone list pays you back like that.

Next come bone arrows. They hit softer than wooden ones but are easier to land while you are still learning a bow, and ten fragments cost nothing once a few deer are down. A bone club is the emergency tool for when your hatchet snaps far from home. The big sink is bone armor at seventy fragments: no bench, weak protection, but better than running around bare-chested on day one.

Fragments come from carcasses, and a skull from a wolf or another player can be crushed into a handful more. By mid-wipe the pile only grows. Xylobones, item racks and the Halloween Frankenstein pieces are where spare bones end up, and nobody will blame you for leaving the rest in a box.
