Delicious Big Cat Meat, Eating it will restore some health, hunger, and thirst.
Most of it is earned the hard way: the cat found you first. Big cats live in the jungle and hunt players, so the meat tends to land in your pockets after a fight you did not pick, with half your health gone and a long walk back to base ahead.
That is exactly when cooked meat is useful. The game text promises some health, hunger and thirst, and after a jungle ambush you are short on all three. Raw big cat meat does the opposite and hurts you, so do not bite into it to get your health up.
Tip
Carry a hundred wood and put down a camp fire right where the cat fell. Cook a few pieces, eat, then move on. You walk out of the jungle healed instead of limping through it with raw meat.
The raw rest goes home, but do not leave it in a box for days, or it turns into spoiled big cat meat. Once the group has a Cooking Workbench, the meat gets a better job: the big cat pie shows nearby animal tracks for a short time.
