Simple hide vest, made with common materials. Basic all-round protection.
Twenty-five leather after the evening hunt is a neat number. Ten go into the vest, fifteen into a hide poncho, and the two layers together keep your torso warmer than either one does alone. That pairing is the reason to craft a vest at all.
On its own it is modest. Its description promises simple, basic all-round protection, a notch above a burlap shirt, paid in leather instead of cloth. A spear or an arrow barely notices either of them.
It keeps its place later, too. When a road sign jacket arrives, the vest can stay on underneath until you own a proper cloth top, so the leather is not wasted the day the armour comes.
Watch out
The hide halterneck is the same piece in another cut, with the same cost and recycling. Both go on the torso under other layers, so crafting the second one is ten leather thrown away.
