Fresh out of a locked crate, this gun holds more parts than any shotgun you can make yourself. It cannot be crafted or researched at all, so the Level 3 recipe stays out of reach and you will never queue one. What the calculator shows is the value in your hands: the pipes of two pump shotguns, the springs of three, and more high quality metal than a pump takes.
So the real question is keep or recycle. A clean M4 belongs in the base, for the indoor fight where the pump's slow follow-up loses. A second one, or one you would never risk, goes to the recycler: it returns half the pipes and a spring or two, the parts of one pump with most of its metal.
Tip
Repair it before it breaks. A repair bench fixes it for some of its metal, and no bench of yours can build another.
