About this craft

A sail is a tarp with some wood around it, and the tarp is the price. The tarp can't be crafted or researched: it comes from road barrels, crates and trades. The calculator unfolds it into cloth at a Level 2 bench, but read that as its value, never as a recipe you can queue.

So decide where each tarp goes before the boat does. Say a road run brings two home. They can become a second sail and a faster crossing, or a large planter box that keeps the group in cloth for the rest of the wipe. Early on the planter usually wins, and one sail is enough for a short hop to an island.

The blueprint is one of the cheapest in the boat kit and sits on the same Level 1 bench as the boat building station. When gears and fuel stop being scarce, a small boat engine adds speed without touching your tarps, and the sail stays on as the spare.
