About this craft
Research this one before your farm takes shape. The small planter is known from the start, so a fresh group fills its first corner with small boxes and only later notices that the same seeds in small boxes cost an extra tarp. This blueprint needs no bench and very little scrap, so it can be learned on day one.
Then count tarps, not wood. The unfolded calculator turns each tarp into cloth at a Level 2 bench, which no player can actually do: tarps come only from road loot, the recycler and trades. Every pair you find is one large box, so keep them in a box until you build the row.
The triangle planter is the one to add after it, and only if your floor has triangles. On a square floor, every tarp belongs in a large box.
Watch out
Plan the layout before you place. Recycle a large box to move it and the ordinary recycler returns only one of its tarps.
