Overview

In-game description
Low quality poppet valves for a combustion engine. Valves control the intake and exhaust flow.

You found a car on the road, the engine is missing parts, and you want it moving before somebody else claims it. Low quality valves are the cheapest way to fill the valve slots of an engine module: 25 metal fragments at a Level 1 workbench, and only 15 scrap to research.

The game text tells you what valves are, poppet valves that control the intake and exhaust flow of a combustion engine, and nothing about what each tier changes. Better tiers are said to make the engine stronger, but no text puts a number on it. What the rows do show is condition: low valves top out at 60, the least of the three.

Tip

Before a long trip, put the car on a car lift and look at the condition of every part. The cheap valves are usually the first thing that runs dry.

Do not craft them to recycle. A yellow recycler gives back 10 of the 25 fragments, a red one 18. Once a Level 2 bench is up, switch to medium valves and keep a low set in a box for a car you might lose anyway.

Recycling

Recycler

At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
