In-game description

A semi-automatic pistol, fires rapidly and with good accuracy.

This is the gun you craft the moment your Level 2 workbench goes down and you still cannot afford a rifle. It draws fast, reloads fast and fires as quickly as you click, which is a real answer to someone with a bow or a waterpipe on a fresh wipe.

It takes every kind of pistol bullet, so the ammo you make for it feeds an SMG later too. Load HV pistol ammo if you keep losing trades at range, since the faster bullet drops less.

The weak spot is range: damage falls off steeply past mid range. Many players also find the recoil hard to hold when they spam the trigger, so they tap at a steady pace and crouch when they can.

Tip

Keep one in the hotbar even after you have better guns. When your main runs dry mid-fight it saves you, and losing it on a death barely hurts.

Once you can make a semi-automatic rifle, many players move their main slot over to it. Both need a semi automatic body, so decide early which gun gets the body you just looted.
