Overview
Insert a cassette and play the recorded audio with [attack], [attack2] to record new audio and [+reload] to throw.
Anything a boom box says on your server was recorded on one of these first. Slot a cassette in, right-click to record through your microphone, left-click to play it back before the tape goes anywhere else.
It needs only a Level 1 workbench and metal fragments. Say you run a small shop by the road. Record one line on a short cassette, something like "shop's open, vending machine round the side", and drop the tape into a boom box by the door. A longer pitch goes on a long cassette.
The game text also lets you throw the recorder. That makes a cheap trick: toss it around a corner while it plays and watch who turns to look. Beyond that, it does nothing for your base or your fights.

Recycling
At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
