About this craft

Nobody crafts a Salvage upgrade. It can't be crafted or researched, so the bill here is the value of one that came out of loot or a trade: five gears and the biggest pile of scrap of any bench upgrade. That scrap never comes back.

The ordinary recycler returns two gears, a coin flip on a third and a little scrap. Fitted, the upgrade takes a fifth off every tech tree unlock at its bench, so 1,000 scrap of unlocks there costs you 800. Over a whole tree that adds up to far more than a few gears.

  1. Put it on the bench whose tree you mean to work through, say the Level 2 workbench right after it goes down.
  2. Do every unlock at that bench, so each one gets the discount.
  3. Recycle it only once that tree is bought.

For a single blueprint deep in a tree, the Prototype upgrade is the other tool.
