Range Workbench Upgrade

You use it so the bench stops deciding where you stand while you craft. The game text says it doubles the crafting radius, so you can queue a stack of arrows from the furnace line or the loot room instead of walking back to the bench each time.

Picture a core built the careful way: the bench sits beside the Tool Cupboard in the middle of the base, and your boxes and furnaces are a couple of rooms out, just past its reach. Without the upgrade you walk in for every craft. With it, the bench reaches you where you already are.

Getting one is the catch. The upgrade cannot be crafted or researched, so it only comes from loot or a trade, and you cannot count on it when you place your first Level 1 workbench. Recycle a spare and you get some metal fragments back, no scrap at all.

So skip it in a small base where the bench already covers every room you use. In a sprawling compound where you craft from several rooms, it is a comfort worth fitting as soon as one turns up.
