Overview
Lowers recoil felt by the operator but can make bullet path more unpredictable and dealing slightly less damage to your foes.
The evening you loot your first AK is usually the evening you learn you cannot hold its spray. A brake is the quick fix. It pulls the kick down enough that a burst at mid range lands where you aimed it, and on an assault rifle that matters more than the bit of damage you give up. The game is honest about the price: slightly less damage and a bullet path that wanders more.
Pros
Cons
- Less recoil, so sprays and quick follow-ups stay on target
- 200 durability, the most of any muzzle mod
- Costs less high quality metal than the boost or the silencers made of it, at a Level 2 bench
- Slightly less damage per hit
- Less predictable bullets, which hurts single long shots
- Takes the muzzle slot, so no silencer on the same gun
It is not only for rifles. Early in a wipe it is the usual cheap upgrade for a revolver, which takes muzzle mods but no sights.
Swap it out when the job changes. For night fights an oil filter silencer hides your flash, and for holding a corridor at point-blank range a muzzle boost trades accuracy for fire rate instead.
