Overview
A stone-tipped wooden Spear. Slightly longer range.
Upgrade the moment you have a wooden spear and a few stones on you. No bench is needed, the stone tip makes each poke count for more, and you gain a little range, as the game's own text promises.
Its best job in the first hour is food and hide. A boar charges, you step back and jab, and it never gets close enough to hurt you. Throwing works too:
- Hold the right mouse button to raise the spear for a throw.
- Click the left button to let go, aiming a little above a moving target.
- Walk over and pick the spear up from the body or the ground.
Two catches. It has less durability than the wooden version, and recycling gives the stones back but only a chance at the wooden spear. Once you own a hunting bow and a stack of wooden arrows, the bow takes over the ranged work, and the spear goes back to finishing animals up close.
