Overview

In-game description
Salty meat from a human being, eating this will restore some hunger and health but reduces hydration. Maybe you should look for a better food source.

Eat it when nothing else is in reach and there is water nearby. That is the whole case for it. Its own text says it restores some hunger and health but reduces hydration, then adds that maybe you should look for a better food source, which is fair advice.

The meat comes from people. Harvest a player's body after a fight and you get raw human meat, which hurts if you eat it as it is, so it goes on a camp fire like any other meat. Left there too long it ends up as burnt human meat, and that only damages you.

The moment it makes sense: you are on a naked respawn far from home, you just won a rock fight on the beach, and there is not a boar in sight. A couple of pieces keep you on your feet until you find something better. Walk to the river right after, because every bite pulls your water bar down.

Around Halloween, think before you cook any of it. The raw meat goes into the monster parts for the Frankenstein table, and those eat it by the handful.
