Characteristics
Overview
A Hammer, used to upgrade building materials. Right-click for the options. You can also pick up deployed objects while the hammer is equipped.
Every base you build passes through the hammer twice. First to turn flimsy twig into walls that last the night, then again to patch them after someone tried to get in. A building plan places the pieces; the hammer decides what they are made of.
- Make sure you are authorised on the Tool Cupboard that covers the spot. Inside someone else's building zone the hammer touches nothing.
- Look at a block, hold RMB and pick a tier: wood, stone, sheet metal or armoured.
- Keep the materials in your inventory, because every upgrade takes them from there.
Repairs work by hitting a damaged block, and each hit costs a slice of what the block is built from. Right after it takes damage the game blocks repairs for a short while, so don't stand there swinging while the rockets are still landing.
Two more things newcomers miss. With the hammer out you can pick up a box or a furnace you placed wrong. And the most expensive tier, armoured, eats high quality metal, which is why most groups armour the core and leave the outer layers in stone.
