Count it in rockets. Four metal pipes are the pipes of two rockets, and on a server where you raid, pipes are the scarce part of every rocket. The HQM on the default view is small; the parts are what this gun costs.
It also takes a gear, the same part a garage door is waiting for, and a spring. Before Level 3 all three come from loot. After it, the calculator's full view shows the honest price: craft every part at your own bench and 230 scrap goes on top of the HQM.
Watch out
Don't build it from the pipes you set aside for a raid. It fires 5.56 rounds, so the gun that eats your rocket pipes also eats your AK's ammo.
For a sidearm on pistol ammo, the Python needs one pipe fewer and no gear.
