Furnace

Stones and wood are the easy half. The 50 low grade fuel decides when your first furnace burns, and there is no blueprint to learn first.

About this craft

Kill something before you build it. Stones and wood come off the first nodes and trees, but the low grade fuel means 13 crafts of fat and cloth, and the animal fat behind them is still walking the woods. A boar or two covers it, and a road barrel with fuel saves part of the hunt.

Every player knows the blueprint from the start, so there is nothing to research and no bench to wait for. The only planning is the batch. One furnace leaves two fuel over from the last craft; build two at once and the fuel divides exactly. Most groups want a second fire soon anyway, one for metal ore and one for sulfur.

Tip

Queue the fuel first and go hit stone while it crafts. Nearly all the craft time is the fuel, not the furnace.

Skins such as the Legacy Furnace come out of this same craft at this same bill. When one fire stops keeping up, the large furnace is the next step, and that one needs research and a Level 2 bench.
