Order matters more than price here. A triangle core usually goes armoured one floor at a time, and the hatch should be the last piece of that floor, not the first. In a stone floor, the 35 HQM buy nothing the frag triangle hatch does not already give you, since raiders simply go through the stone next to it.
The research path is short if you built the cheap version first. Its wooden ladder blueprint carries over, so the new spend is this hatch and, if crates no longer cover you, the gears blueprint. From zero it is three blueprints: the hatch, the ladder and the gears for crafting your own.
Square or triangle, the bill is the same as for the square armoured hatch. If your core mixes both shapes, one stockpile of HQM and gears covers either, and you choose at the bench.
