Bed

Cloth and frags come home from any farm run; the two sewing kits do not. Until a Level 3 bench stands, every bed waits on kits from road loot.

About this craft

The bill looks soft until the last line. Cloth and frags come home from any farm run, but two sewing kits are a different matter. The kit is a Level 3 craft, and when a group first wants a bed, Level 3 is usually days away. So the early bed waits on road barrels, crates and recycled clothes.

The unfolded calculator deserves a careful look. It shows a heap of cloth and a Level 3 bench, and most of that cloth stands in for the rope inside the kits. Rope is never crafted. A bed built from kits you craft yourself really costs six ropes from barrels, crates and the recycler.

Tip

Leaving an old base? Put the bed into the recycler instead of walking away from it. The ordinary recycler hands a sewing kit back, half of your next bed.

Until the kits turn up, a sleeping bag covers your respawn for a little cloth. The bed earns its price in the main base, where you die and come back most often.
