Weigh the two sewing kits before anything else. A road sign jacket takes the same pair, so early in a wipe every egg you sew is a jacket someone in your group goes without. The cloth is one walk through a hemp field.
Only players who own the suit on Steam get the recipe. They need no research and no bench, so it can be sewn anywhere, even right after a respawn. Everyone else wears one only when an owner hands it over or it turns up on a body.
So wait until kits pile up. Even once your group can craft kits at Level 3, each one eats rope you can only loot, and an Easter squad of four eggs asks for eight of them.
