Every player knows this hat from the first minute of a wipe, so nothing stands between you and it but some cloth and animal fat. The fat goes into low grade fuel first, which is a starting blueprint too, and the hat needs no bench. A beach start with hemp nearby covers it before the first night.
The leftovers come from the fuel. It is crafted in batches that don't match one hat, and a single hat leaves three fuel in your inventory. Craft hats for a group of four in one go and the batches divide with nothing over. A solo player just keeps the spare: the hat burns low grade fuel while lit, so it never goes to waste.
