Animal fat is what this candle really costs. The calculator leads with metal fragments, but those are one furnace run. The low grade fuel starts as fat and cloth, so the slow part is the hunting, not the smelting. Bring home the fat from every boar and deer in the days before a show.
Nobody researches it. The candle appears only in the crafting menu of players who own it on Steam, whatever bench or scrap they have.
Tip
Craft candles in pairs. A single one leaves spare fuel from its last batch; two use it to the last unit, and the green candle or any other colour counts toward the pair.
For a bigger burst in the same colour, the blue boomer adds gun powder on top of the fuel.
