Compound Bow

Two ropes, some frags and wood at a Level 1 bench. The ropes are the whole problem: no bench crafts them, so they come only from barrels and crates.

About this craft

Frags and wood are farm-run leftovers here; the two ropes are what you go looking for. The calculator can unfold rope into cloth, but no bench crafts it: every coil comes out of a road barrel, a crate or the recycler, and the satchel players in your group want the same coils.

So decide who gets them. Next to the crossbow, which asks for the same two ropes, the compound bow costs scrap to learn while the crossbow is known from the start, and it wears out sooner. It only pays when you shoot from a planted spot. A roamer is better served by the crossbow, or by a hunting bow that takes no rope at all.

Tip

Broken bows are not trash. The recycler usually hands a rope back from a worn compound bow, which is half of the next one.
