Don't trust the tile that names cloth the main resource. Ten cloth and a stack of wood come home from any farm run. The real cost is the metal pipe, which the calculator counts as is because almost nobody crafts one: that takes a Level 3 bench, high quality metal and scrap.
Until then pipes are loot, and the same pipe could become a revolver, which wins far more fights on its own. Build the blow pipe when a spare pipe sits in the box and someone in the group wants to play support.
Craft the darts in the same sitting. Plain wood darts cost almost nothing, while the incapacitate darts need snake venom, so start collecting it early.
